The fifth edition of Casalgrande Padana's Creative Book was issued during the month of November. This time, the prestigious publication was dedicated to the use of refined porcelain stoneware in architecture.
Creative Book is an important cultural proposal that underscores Casalgrande Padana's particular interest in themes concerning architecture, design, innovation and technological research. Initially created as a means for supporting and promoting Grand Prix, the international architecture competition that every two years, awards the most significant works that have been most able to turn the technical properties and expressive potential of Casalgrande Padana's refined porcelain stoneware to account, the volume has gradually evolved and now deals with lots of other subjects as well.
Designed as a real tool, the book provides additional ideas about how to get the most out of the expressive potential of Granitogres, Marmogres, Pietre Native and Padana Piscine ceramic materials by offering a series of concrete contributions, with a wealth of information, examples, solutions, advice, suggestions and atmospheres. An easily consulted publication, to leaf through when required.
Creative Book is divided into three sections dedicated to constructions, composition proposals and materials.
All the projects that participated in the last edition of Casalgrande Padana's Grand Prix international architecture competition are presented in the first part of the volume. The review is divided into the main types of job: business and shopping centers; public and service facility building, industrial building; curtain wall cladding and outdoor floors; residential building; swimming pools. Each work is illustrated with a series of photographs along with a technical data sheet. The awarded projects and those of greater interest are also complete with drawings, fixing layouts and details about the refined porcelain stoneware products used.
The central part of the book, which is dedicated to compositions, analyses how the ceramic products are used for floors by developing a series of proposals and suggestions. These particularly take the more recent developments into account, achieved thanks to the wide range of tile formats and colours available, all of which can be mixed and matched together. Since basic modules formed by various elements can be defined, designers can now face almost any type of composition theme in a completely new way, from fixing layouts that involve entire rooms and areas to central decorations, edges, routeways and more besides.
The last part of the volume is all about materials. The characteristic performances and the design features of Granitogres, Marmogres, Pietre Native and Padana Piscine are highlighted in the technical data sheets of the products along with large theme tables, details and a suggestive colour chart. The formats, surface textures and chromatic effects featured in these pages provide a particular key to understanding the information which interacts at various levels, achieving differentiated methods of interpreting the proposals which can also be adapted to suit the numberless situations that designers are called upon to face. This is how Creative Book indicates certain of the possible directions that research into the ways of using ceramic materials in architecture can take, thus offering designers hints on achieving expressive compositions in a series of suggestions for practical use that stimulate all their creative flair.
